Net Zero: What it means to us
At Wellington we believe climate change poses material risks for companies, economies, and society – and for our clients’ investment portfolios. That’s why we became one of the original signatories of the Net Zero Asset Managers Initiative, making a commitment to ensure our investee companies are working towards net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.
We strongly believe that engagement is the most important mechanism to achieve real-world emissions reductions and avoid the worst effects of physical climate change. As a large active manager, we are uniquely placed to work with the companies we invest in to set net-zero commitments – and to make sure that those commitments are implemented.
In the video below, Wendy Cromwell, Vice Chair, Director of Sustainable Investment, and Portfolio Manager, and Julie Delongchamp, Climate Transition Risk Analyst, explain how we combine the pursuit of our climate goals with a focus on generating superior investment returns.
